There are a lot of preparations to be done in order that the eulogy delivery will be effective. It is a sensitive time and a sad one for anyone dealing with the loss of a loved one.
One detail that often escapes even the most thorough planner is to write an obituary. You could look upon a eulogy as a funeral oration or tribute, but I rather like the idea of seeing as an opportunity to put in a good word for the loved one being honored. Sometime you find yourself not saying anything at all and that can be even worse than saying the wrong thing.
The need to talk is an outlet of letting out all of their feelings about the situation. Look at your local bookstore for poetry books that have memorial or condolence poems included or search online for posted poetry. It is, in fact, acceptable to include humorous moments in a eulogy.
Grief is not something we can simply set aside. Funeral services are meant to celebrate the lives of lost love ones.
